It’s a perfect day for rice planting.

Around NORICHIE, rice planting has finally begun. The seedlings we’ve
carefully nurtured since spring are now making their journey to the rice paddies. It feels

a bit like sending my daughter off to her new home.

In a few days, the flooded paddies will be lined with tiny seedlings, and the beautiful rural
landscape so characteristic of Nishiki Town will unfold before us.

The photo shows a 94-year-old grandmother. She’s still going
strong today.
