Katamae Mountain Forest Park

Katamae Mountain Forest Park is our favorite picnic spot and a special place where we can play to our heart’s content in nature.

In spring, you can gaze out over Lake Tazawa and Mount Akita-Komagatake through the cherry blossoms, taking in the beautiful scenery that is so characteristic of Akita. In winter, the entire area is blanketed in snow, making it easy to enjoy a hike in the snowy mountains.

The park is equipped with tables and chairs, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a picnic. We especially recommend visiting in the morning when the air is crisp and clear, offering the most stunning views of Lake Tazawa and the surrounding mountains.
While the adjacent campground requires a fee, picnicking and snow hiking are free of charge.
